NYC Executive Accused of Raping, Torturing Women in Apartment ‘Chamber of Horror’

A New York City private equity executive is facing over 100 felony charges after allegedly using his Manhattan apartment as a site of brutal sexual abuse, torture, and coercion involving at least six women, prosecutors announced.

Ryan Hemphill, 43, pleaded not guilty to a 116-count indictment that includes charges of predatory sexual assault, rape, and criminal possession of drugs and weapons. He now faces a possible life sentence if convicted.

Prosecutors Say Hemphill Ran a “Calculated Campaign of Violence”

According to Manhattan prosecutors, Hemphill targeted women through sugar dating platforms like Seeking.com and SugarDaddyMeet, as well as Craigslist and FetLife. He lured them with promises of money — sometimes using counterfeit cash — before subjecting them to increasingly violent and degrading treatment in his apartment.

Authorities say Hemphill surveilled his victims using hidden cameras and manipulated them emotionally by coaxing confessions about past traumas, which he then allegedly re-enacted during assaults. His apartment, prosecutors said, functioned as a private torture chamber outfitted with handcuffs, restraints, cattle prods, shock collars, and weapons.

Disturbing Evidence Discovered in Apartment

Investigators recovered high-capacity ammunition magazines, counterfeit currency, heroin, cocaine, fentanyl, and amphetamines inside the apartment. Prosecutors described video evidence showing hundreds of women — many blindfolded and undressed — some of whom have not yet been identified.

“This was a calculated, prolonged campaign of psychological and physical terror,” said NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch. “This type of abuse has no place in our city and will be prosecuted with the full weight of the law.”

Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Mirah Curzer revealed that Hemphill allegedly drugged some victims, shackled them, and used electric devices including cattle prods during assaults. One woman was reportedly left handcuffed to a bed while begging to be released.

Victims Were Allegedly Coerced Into Silence

Prosecutors say Hemphill forced several women to record false consent videos to protect himself legally, and allegedly threatened them with death or arrest by claiming he had connections in law enforcement and organized crime. Some victims reported being urinated on, verbally degraded, and assaulted with weapons.

In court, Judge Ann Scherzer ordered Hemphill held without bail, citing concerns over his financial resources and potential to flee. The judge called his behavior “a disturbing example of how far someone will go to avoid accountability.”

Fox News Digital has requested further comment from Hemphill’s legal team. Prosecutors continue to investigate additional potential victims.
