Boston Rob Responds to Fans Disappointed He’s Absent from ‘Survivor 50’: ‘Something Good’ Is on the Horizon
Boston Rob Mariano: A Survivor Legend Steps Back
It’s funny how life throws curveballs, isn’t it? Just when you think you know what’s coming next, plans change. Fans of Boston Rob Mariano were in for quite the surprise recently. Despite not being part of the upcoming star-studded cast, he’s not vanishing from the public eye. Far from it.
The 49-year-old reality TV veteran shared a snapshot on his Instagram stories, hinting at future plans with a mix of excitement and mystery. “It’s gonna be OK…I feel like something good is coming!!!🔥” he wrote. It was as if he wanted to reassure us all – or perhaps himself.
Later, in a heartfelt post, Rob expanded on his decision. He acknowledged the overwhelming support from fans and assured them that his absence wasn’t due to any animosity towards the show or its producers. “Wow!!! I got all of your DM‘s and messages so so many thank you all!! ♥️ But literally don’t be mad @survivorcbs and @jeffprobst early on they called and asked… I wanted my spot to go to someone else. I am truly fulfilled with my Survivor Journey and I’m eternally grateful!🔥”
His journey on Survivor has been nothing short of legendary – five seasons as a contestant and a season as a mentor. But he’s ventured beyond just this one reality TV game. There were other shows, another network or two…yet there’s a sense that his heart remains tied to Survivor. Still, life off-screen has its own adventures. With Amber Brkich, another winner by his side, Mariano recently celebrated two decades of marriage. Together, they navigate the joys and challenges of parenting their four daughters: Lucia, Carina, Isabetta, and Adelina.
“At this point, I’m kind of just hanging out,” Rob explained not too long ago. He seemed almost wistful as he spoke of spending summer with his kids rather than strategizing against fellow castaways. “I truly feel like I’m the luckiest person in the world,” he mused. It’s refreshing to hear someone at his stage say such things – there’s an honesty to it that resonates.
Rob’s history with Survivor is unparalleled; however, it’s precisely this legacy that presents new challenges. In an interview last year, he acknowledged the difficulty of returning to the show now that he’s a well-known target. “I don’t feel any desire to go back there and play the game again, especially where they’re just gonna use me for a little bit and vote me out,” he shared candidly.
The next season promises excitement without him in the lineup – an all-returnees season set to air in 2026 featuring fan favorites like Cirie Fields, Mike White, Ozzy Lusth, and Aubrey Bracco. There’s something comforting about seeing familiar faces return even if Rob won’t be among them this time.

Though he’s stepping back from one aspect of fame, perhaps this marks the start of something different altogether…and who knows what that might bring?
