Austin Metcalf’s Father Responds to Heated Accusations from Anthony Family Spokesman: ‘Justice Will Prevail’

The father of slain Texas teen Austin Metcalf is speaking out again after being publicly criticized for the second time by Dominique Alexander, a spokesman representing the family of the teen accused of murdering his son. Tensions between both sides reached a boiling point after a chaotic press conference and an ongoing online war of words.

Alexander, who leads the Next Generation Action Network (NGAN), took to social media Monday night to once again blast Jeff Metcalf, Austin’s father, claiming he disrupted a press conference held for the family of Karmelo Anthony, the 17-year-old suspect in the fatal stabbing. In a new video, Alexander claimed Metcalf was never invited and questioned his motives for attending.

This press conference wasn’t about him, wasn’t organized by him, and didn’t invite him,” Alexander said, adding that his organization did not call the police on Metcalf. “We didn’t even know he was there until the media told us.”

At the center of this explosive back-and-forth is the tragic death of Austin Metcalf, a track athlete from Memorial High School in Frisco, who was fatally stabbed at a meet. Karmelo Anthony, a student from Centennial High School, is currently out on bond and facing a first-degree murder charge.

Metcalf’s Father: “Justice Will Prevail”

Jeff Metcalf, who had previously been escorted out of the April 17 press event by police, responded calmly to the renewed attacks. “I don’t allow [Alexander] to live rent-free in my mind,” he told Fox News Digital. “He just wants more attention. Don’t give it to him. Justice will prevail.”

The original press conference, meant to offer the Anthony family’s perspective, quickly derailed as Alexander accused Metcalf of being “disrespectful” and claimed his presence was “a disrespect to the dignity of his son.”

In the latest video, Alexander also lashed out at online critics who have surfaced his past criminal record and mugshots. “I don’t care what anyone says about me. Your attacks only boost my ego,” he said defiantly. He then shifted focus, claiming his priority was maintaining the safety of all parties, and reiterated that Metcalf’s presence raised safety concerns.

Both Families Reeling as Case Progresses

As emotions flare on both sides, Karmelo Anthony’s mother, Kayla Hayes, made a public plea, saying her family has been harassed and threatened since the incident. “Our family has been under attack,” she said. “We didn’t do anything to deserve this treatment.”

She noted that personal details — including their home address and her husband’s workplace — have been spread online, forcing her husband to take a leave of absence and leaving her younger children fearful. “My daughter is scared to sleep in her own bed,” Hayes said.

Meanwhile, Alexander used the platform to invoke the issue of race and legal double standards, comparing the public treatment of Anthony to high-profile defendants like Kyle Rittenhouse and Daniel Penny. “He should be given the same rights,” Alexander argued. “Where’s the outrage when others raise millions for their defense?”

Though the press conference was supposed to focus on Anthony’s legal journey, much of the spotlight has now shifted to the intense rhetoric exchanged between Alexander and Metcalf. The Dallas Police Department declined to comment on the altercation, while Metcalf remains focused on honoring his son’s memory and seeking justice through the courts.

Forgiveness, But Not Forgetting

In an earlier interview, Metcalf expressed heartbreak over losing his son, who died in the arms of his twin brother. “Austin was the light of my life,” he said. Despite the pain, he emphasized that he forgives Anthony — not for the suspect’s sake, but for his own peace. “Forgiveness is for me, so I can heal,” he said. “His life is destroyed. My life is destroyed.”

The case is ongoing, and as legal proceedings unfold, it’s clear that both families are navigating a deeply painful chapter in the public eye — one fueled by grief, outrage, and very different views of justice.
